GLENDALE,
AZ (May 4, 2013) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that
Wichita Thunder defenseman Nathan Lutz and Allen Americans forward
Jason Deitsch have each been suspended one (1) game
and will both miss Game 3 of the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Finals on
Saturday night. The series between the Thunder and the Allen Americans
is currently tied one win apiece.Lutz received a Match Penalty for
"Âattempt to injure' during the third period of Game 2's 5-2 loss in
Allen and Deitsch was observed to commit and unnecessary and dangerous
action with his stick at the same time of Lutz's infraction. Deitsch was
assessed a two minute high sticking penalty during the game for his
actions.
Additionally, Wichita Head Coach Kevin McClelland and
Allen Head Coach Steve Martinson have each been fined an undisclosed
amount of money
for their actions during Game 2 and for failing to control their teams
Martinson's comments on this were interesting. Did you listen and hear that the American's are appealing all three rulings? It seems ridiculous to suspend Deitch (really at all) and Lutz for a game. What Lutz did was so much more egregious. Marty said that in the NHL that is an automatic 10 game suspension. Sometimes it seems like the CHL works against us for some reason! Coach's comments are posted on the Americans' website and worth listening to.
