A Deep Dive On the Allen Americans 2026-27 Schedule

The ECHL just released the schedule for the 2026-27 season. I thought it would be a good time to do the annual "deep dive" on the Americans' schedule. It is probably more information than you would ever want to know about the schedule, especially in the middle of the playoffs. Still, it will give you many different views of what coach Martinson and the team will be dealing with next season. Here is the ECHL press release with the 2026-27 schedule: https://echl.com/news/2026/05/echl-releases-2026-27-schedule

- Let me start by talking about the start of the 2026-27 season. I mentioned the other day that the CUTX Event Center will host three major stages of the 2026 League of Legends World Championships. League of Legends is the largest esport in the World (multi-player video game). The actual tournament, according to the CUTX Event Center calendar, is in three different stages through the semifinals, running from October 23 to November 8.

Basically, the Allen Americans have been kicked out of the CUTX Event Center for six weeks for this esports event. The building took away Allen's practice ice and any chance for home games. Having no home games until the latter part of November was untenable, so the team exercised a clause in its lease with the City of Allen that allows the team to schedule two games at alternate venues. It is not ideal, but it does get Allen two "home " games early in the season.

The Americans will play two games at the Comerica Center in Frisco. It is a 6000 seat arena that is home to the Texas Legends (NBA G League) and is the Dallas Stars' practice facility. The two games at Comerica Center will be on Thursday, October 29th (School Day Game) and  Friday, October 30. Comerica will also host the second half of Allen's training camp.

In talking to Allen Leadership, they noted they were not happy about how they were kicked out of their home arena and practice facility for such an extended period of time. They also told me these games at Comerica Center might open the door for more games there in the future.

- Here is a breakdown of Allen's 72 games by opponent:

  • 13 games - Rapid City (6 home, 7 away)
  • 11 games - Wichita (5 home, 6 away)
  • 9 games - Idaho (5 home, 4 away)
  • 9 games - Tulsa (3 home, 6 away)
  • 7 games - Tahoe (4 home, 3 away)
  • 6 games - Kansas City (4 home, 2 away)
  • 6 games - New Mexico (3 home, 3 away)
  • 3 games - Fort Wayne (3 home, 0 away)
  • 3 games - Savannah (3 home, 0 away)
  • 3 games - Worcester (0 home, 3 away)
  • 2 games - Indy (0 home, 2 away)

- Here is a breakdown by month:

  • October - 6 games (2 home at Comerica, 4 away)
  • November - 13 games (2 home, 11 away)
  • December - 12 games (9 home, 3 away)
  • January - 13 games (10 home, 3 away)
  • February - 12 games (7 home, 5 away)
  • March - 11 games (5 home, 6 away)
  • April - 5 games (3 home, 2 away)

- Here is a breakdown of the 36-game home schedule by day of the week with the change from 2025-26 in parentheses:

  • 11 games - Saturday (-1)
  • 12 games - Friday (+2)
  • 5 games - Thursday (4 school games plus NYE)
  • 3 games - Wednesday (-4)
  • 4 games - Sunday (-1)
  • 1 game - Tuesday
  • 0 games - Monday
- Friday, Saturday, School Days, and NYE are all high attendance dates. These days represent 78% of the home dates.

- Allen will have 36 games against teams that didn't make the playoffs in 2025-26 (Rapid City, Wichita, Tulsa, and Worcester) and 30 games against teams that made the playoffs (Idaho, Tahoe, Kansas City, Fort Wayne, Savannah, and Indy). The other six games are against the new franchise, New Mexico.

-  Four games in five days is really brutal, especially if travel is involved. In 2026-27, the Americans will play four games in five days three times. The good news is these are spread out over the season, two of them are at home, and only one on the road is four games in Rapid City:
  • November 25, 27, 28 29 - All four games are in Rapid City. The day off (26th) is Thanksgiving.
  • February 16, 18, 19, 20 - Tulsa (H), New Mexico (H), New Mexico (H), New Mexico (H)
  • March 17, 19, 20, 21 - Kansas City (H), Wichita (H), Wichita (H), Wichita (H)

- One of the many things the team looks at when the schedule comes out is how many times they have to play three games back to back to back. Three games in three days is stressful, especially if there is travel involved. Players are more prone to injuries in these situations. All of the four games in five days listed above include three games in three days. Here are the other three games in three days. A break for Allen, as there are only four of them, and three of them are at home. The one that requires travel is the last three games of the season against Wichita, and both teams will travel.

  • November 13, 14, 15 - Kansas City (H), Tulsa (H), Tulsa (H)
  • December 3, 4, 5 -  Kansas City (H), Tahoe (H), Tahoe (H)
  • January 8, 9, 10 - Idaho (H), Idaho (H), Idaho (H)
  • April 9, 10, 11 - Wichita (H), Wichita (A), Wichita (A)

- The easiest part of the schedule from a travel perspective will be from December 12 to January 21. The Americans will be at home for six straight weeks, with one exception. A one-day trip to Tulsa the day after Christmas.

- The toughest road schedule is at the start of the season, from October 17 to November 29. Here is the schedule. Travel to Tulsa, then to Idaho, and then back to Tulsa. Then back to Allen for two games at Comerica Center. Then back on the road to New Mexico, Kansas City, Tulsa, and Wichita. Two games at home against Kansas City and then back on the road for four games against Rapid City. When December 1st arrives, the Americans will have played 14 road games and four home games, with just two of the home games at CUTX Event Center.

- Here is the Allen Americans press release with more details on the 2026-27 schedule:  https://allenamericans.com/news/2026/05/americans-announce-2026-2027-schedule

DID YOU KNOW: During the 2015-16 season, the Allen Americans were scheduled to travel 30,000 miles to their 36 road games, with 22,000 miles being on the bus. They flew on the 8,000-mile round trip to Alaska.

  1. Attention JM:

I don't buy season tickets to get 6 school day games.
You ask for my commitment and then play a shell game every year.

    2. Baseball teams have day games during the week all the time... Their stms dont seem to mind. Growing the game for a lot of kids.

    3. They let you change to other games if you want. It's common across the league and more teams are having a lot of them.
If you're able to make some of them I highly recommend it. They upgrade any STM that wants up in a suite and give us free snacks and soda. They are the loudest and most fun games of the season.

    5. The normal middle of the week games have like 1500 fans and the school games are sold out every time with 6000. If the fans showed up to the weeknights they probably wouldnt need to have so many school games. Personally I dont mind it. So many kids being exposed to hockey for the first time.

    6. My Rangers season tickets they dont allow me to move games like Allen does. I appreciate them letting us move games whenver we need. 6 day games isnt a big deal. I might take a few days off work and enjoy some hockey for lunch!

    7. As a player I would much rather play in front of a sold out crowd of loud kids then the normal weekday night small quiet crowds.

    8. Are you a player?

    9. The request for school day games comes directly from the Americans. It also assists in them padding the annual attendance numbers. They are not money makers.

Are they given free tickets to come back again?

Are they given discounted tickets to come back with their family?

Are they given a $5 off merch coupon for any purchase over $40

If you’re not utilizing the opportunity to bring them back, and monitor the take on the free or discounted tickets, then it’s a pointless exercise other than to pad season attendance.

    10. Love the school games! Kids love it and the kids cheer so loud for the players.
For the people complaining…buying season tickets is optional not mandatory, if you don’t like it just buy individual games, problem solved. You can keep complaining but it won’t change the outcome.

      Delete
    11. The team charges like $20 a ticket and they sell it out completely. It's a money making machine for them, and yes they include a free kids ticket to a future game with the educational booklets so the kids will bring their parents back who then buy tickets. It's a great idea, plus it introduces 6,000 new kids to the sport of hockey each game, maybe 5,000 if some are already fans. I am all for it. Anyone complaining should just actually go to one of them and see how thrilling they are.

    12. Yeah the team would be crazy to not keep having these games. It's not like they're taking away Friday or Saturday night theme games. We lose a few mid week snoozers that have less than 2000 people in the barn anyways and the team replaces them with 6000 kids paying 20 bucks a pop.

    17. My kid went to the game. It was between $15 or $20 I can't remember. Every school pays for the ticket and from what my kid said it was well worth it!

      Delete
    18. The Americans are getting less than $10 every seat. Hotdogs, chips and a drink aren’t free. All said and done, it’s not a big money winner. Sales vs net profit are two completely different numbers.

    1. Yup. The fact they would kick a pro hockey team out for 6 weeks during the season says all you need to know. The building in Frisco is nicer anyways and closer to my house in Plano.

    3. I can imagine how that conversation when down. "Hey we know you have thousands of fans coming to your games and counting on the games being played here but sorry we're kicking your ass out for almost 2 months to start your training camp and season. Why? Video games of course! Good luck out there!" - City of Allen

      Delete
    4. The city is beyond clueless, as is Randell Holmes competing against the Americans for seat and suite sales. Insanity. Rent the arena and we compete with you to sell suites in there. Where else would this occur?-

      Delete
    5. The old Randall Holmes, lowballing Suite sales, no never….. happens every game, and tries to steal customers.
      Some facts there.
About time people opened their eyes.
      Shady business practices.

    6. Is this the same guy that kicks people out of an empty suite on the school day game, because he needs the suite for a family, then for the remainder of the game there are 2 people sitting in a 20 person suite, all whilst 10 other suites remain empty? This Randall Holmes?

      Delete
    7. Yes that would be him. The city swoops in on the Americans fans all the time to try and steal them. I can't believe it's legal what they do.

      Delete
    8. What????? They do this?

      Delete
    9. Yes they do. They rent you the venue and then steal your customers.

  5. I agree with all these comments!! The city of allen doesnt deserve the americans. who ever the new owner(s) is needs to tell the city to go pound sand. Comerica in Frisco would love to have the americans and treat them way better. Much nicer than AEC.

    1. Truth! Teams have left the city of Allen over and over again. There's definitely a reason why and the Americans being booted form their own building for 2 months is further proof! Americans to Comerica full time in a few years makes sense.

    2. The hatred towards the City is unreal.

      The venue works.
The food is overpriced, the workers historically horrendous, zero ability to handle volume flow, complete disorganization most of the time.

Can’t believe they just book the CUTX arena and tell the team too bad. Just wow.

      Delete
    3. What other teams have left the city of Allen "over and over again"? I don't know of any other pro sports ever played there. Please elaborate on the teams

    4. Dallas Sidekicks for one

      Delete
    5. Sidekicks, Revolution, multiple conference basketball events, etc all used to plays there

      Delete
    6. OK, name a team in existence. Leaving an arena because you went bankrupt or otherwise ceased operations doesn't really count. How many times have the Sidekicks filed bankruptcy in their existence? I do agree the city doesn't know how to run and utilize this venue, but at least be honest in your gripes. Like... how come all the posters in the windows are from 2009 when it opened and why have there been very few successful events there in the last several years, with some even cancelling because of poor ticket sales. Start again and name some teams that actually left to go to another place, not left to stop operations

      Delete
  6. So the city kicked them out of their own arena and aren't even giving them ice to practice on? Because of a one time video game thing? Thats beyond disrespectful. Americans have been there for almost 20 years! If I were Myles I'd move the team to Comerica full time.

    9. I agree, none of us want this, but if it is so, why are you demanding a confirmation today, and what makes you think you deserve one? IF it is true, it will be released in the next few days, why do you think you are so entitled immediate knowledge of other's business decisions? Will it affect whether or not you attend Saturday night? Your season tickets are already bought for next year, will you ask for a refund if the team is sold? Why can't you check your entitlement and quit demanding immediate answers to things that honestly aren't really your business?

      Delete
    10. I dont think that's what they mean, at least I dont read it that way. Someone stated it was complete BS. I think they are saying let the president or Barry confirm or deny.
