The ECHL just released the schedule for the 2026-27 season. I thought it would be a good time to do the annual "deep dive" on the Americans' schedule. It is probably more information than you would ever want to know about the schedule, especially in the middle of the playoffs. Still, it will give you many different views of what coach Martinson and the team will be dealing with next season. Here is the ECHL press release with the 2026-27 schedule: https://echl.com/news/2026/05/echl-releases-2026-27-schedule
- Let me start by talking about the start of the 2026-27 season. I mentioned the other day that the CUTX Event Center will host three major stages of the 2026 League of Legends World Championships. League of Legends is the largest esport in the World (multi-player video game). The actual tournament, according to the CUTX Event Center calendar, is in three different stages through the semifinals, running from October 23 to November 8.
Basically, the Allen Americans have been kicked out of the CUTX Event Center for six weeks for this esports event. The building took away Allen's practice ice and any chance for home games. Having no home games until the latter part of November was untenable, so the team exercised a clause in its lease with the City of Allen that allows the team to schedule two games at alternate venues. It is not ideal, but it does get Allen two "home " games early in the season.
The Americans will play two games at the Comerica Center in Frisco. It is a 6000 seat arena that is home to the Texas Legends (NBA G League) and is the Dallas Stars' practice facility. The two games at Comerica Center will be on Thursday, October 29th (School Day Game) and Friday, October 30. Comerica will also host the second half of Allen's training camp.
In talking to Allen Leadership, they noted they were not happy about how they were kicked out of their home arena and practice facility for such an extended period of time. They also told me these games at Comerica Center might open the door for more games there in the future.
- Here is a breakdown of Allen's 72 games by opponent:
- 13 games - Rapid City (6 home, 7 away)
- 11 games - Wichita (5 home, 6 away)
- 9 games - Idaho (5 home, 4 away)

DID YOU KNOW: During the 2015-16 season, the Allen Americans were scheduled to travel 30,000 miles to their 36 road games, with 22,000 miles being on the bus. They flew on the 8,000-mile round trip to Alaska.
Attention JM:
ReplyDeleteI don't buy season tickets to get 6 school day games.
You ask for my commitment and then play a shell game every year.
👆🏻💯
DeleteBaseball teams have day games during the week all the time... Their stms dont seem to mind. Growing the game for a lot of kids.
DeleteThey let you change to other games if you want. It's common across the league and more teams are having a lot of them.
DeleteIf you're able to make some of them I highly recommend it. They upgrade any STM that wants up in a suite and give us free snacks and soda. They are the loudest and most fun games of the season.
Most people work
DeleteThe normal middle of the week games have like 1500 fans and the school games are sold out every time with 6000. If the fans showed up to the weeknights they probably wouldnt need to have so many school games. Personally I dont mind it. So many kids being exposed to hockey for the first time.
DeleteMy Rangers season tickets they dont allow me to move games like Allen does. I appreciate them letting us move games whenver we need. 6 day games isnt a big deal. I might take a few days off work and enjoy some hockey for lunch!
DeleteAs a player I would much rather play in front of a sold out crowd of loud kids then the normal weekday night small quiet crowds.
DeleteAre you a player?
DeleteThe request for school day games comes directly from the Americans. It also assists in them padding the annual attendance numbers. They are not money makers.
DeleteAre they given free tickets to come back again?
Are they given discounted tickets to come back with their family?
Are they given a $5 off merch coupon for any purchase over $40
If you’re not utilizing the opportunity to bring them back, and monitor the take on the free or discounted tickets, then it’s a pointless exercise other than to pad season attendance.
Love the school games! Kids love it and the kids cheer so loud for the players.
DeleteFor the people complaining…buying season tickets is optional not mandatory, if you don’t like it just buy individual games, problem solved. You can keep complaining but it won’t change the outcome.
The team charges like $20 a ticket and they sell it out completely. It's a money making machine for them, and yes they include a free kids ticket to a future game with the educational booklets so the kids will bring their parents back who then buy tickets. It's a great idea, plus it introduces 6,000 new kids to the sport of hockey each game, maybe 5,000 if some are already fans. I am all for it. Anyone complaining should just actually go to one of them and see how thrilling they are.
DeleteYeah the team would be crazy to not keep having these games. It's not like they're taking away Friday or Saturday night theme games. We lose a few mid week snoozers that have less than 2000 people in the barn anyways and the team replaces them with 6000 kids paying 20 bucks a pop.
DeleteSame person making last 3 posts ?
DeleteSounds like lots of cry babies. Who cares if a sports team has day games.
Delete☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼 agree
DeleteThey are NOT paying $20. That is a completely made up number.
DeleteMy kid went to the game. It was between $15 or $20 I can't remember. Every school pays for the ticket and from what my kid said it was well worth it!
DeleteThe Americans are getting less than $10 every seat. Hotdogs, chips and a drink aren’t free. All said and done, it’s not a big money winner. Sales vs net profit are two completely different numbers.
DeletePlease dont say anything about Tommy.
ReplyDeleteHow do we only play KC 6 times? They are just up the road....
ReplyDeleteFire the City of Allen.
ReplyDeleteThey suck.
Move the team to Frisco.
Been a bad deal for a long time.
Constantly compete against the city for seat and suite sales, can you believe that?
Overpriced food.
They are a total joke.
Only good thing? Free parking.
Yup. The fact they would kick a pro hockey team out for 6 weeks during the season says all you need to know. The building in Frisco is nicer anyways and closer to my house in Plano.
DeleteTheir main tenant mind you.
DeleteI can imagine how that conversation when down. "Hey we know you have thousands of fans coming to your games and counting on the games being played here but sorry we're kicking your ass out for almost 2 months to start your training camp and season. Why? Video games of course! Good luck out there!" - City of Allen
DeleteThe city is beyond clueless, as is Randell Holmes competing against the Americans for seat and suite sales. Insanity. Rent the arena and we compete with you to sell suites in there. Where else would this occur?-
DeleteThe old Randall Holmes, lowballing Suite sales, no never….. happens every game, and tries to steal customers.
DeleteSome facts there.
About time people opened their eyes.
Shady business practices.
Is this the same guy that kicks people out of an empty suite on the school day game, because he needs the suite for a family, then for the remainder of the game there are 2 people sitting in a 20 person suite, all whilst 10 other suites remain empty? This Randall Holmes?
DeleteYes that would be him. The city swoops in on the Americans fans all the time to try and steal them. I can't believe it's legal what they do.
DeleteWhat????? They do this?
DeleteYes they do. They rent you the venue and then steal your customers.
DeleteHas the team addressed this with the City?
DeleteJust because it’s vacant doesn’t mean you can use it… duh you didn’t pay for it! Common sense is hard for some.
DeleteWhat are you talking about?
DeleteI agree with all these comments!! The city of allen doesnt deserve the americans. who ever the new owner(s) is needs to tell the city to go pound sand. Comerica in Frisco would love to have the americans and treat them way better. Much nicer than AEC.
ReplyDeleteTruth! Teams have left the city of Allen over and over again. There's definitely a reason why and the Americans being booted form their own building for 2 months is further proof! Americans to Comerica full time in a few years makes sense.
DeleteThe hatred towards the City is unreal.
DeleteThe venue works.
The food is overpriced, the workers historically horrendous, zero ability to handle volume flow, complete disorganization most of the time.
Can’t believe they just book the CUTX arena and tell the team too bad. Just wow.
What other teams have left the city of Allen "over and over again"? I don't know of any other pro sports ever played there. Please elaborate on the teams
DeleteDallas Sidekicks for one
DeleteSidekicks, Revolution, multiple conference basketball events, etc all used to plays there
DeleteOK, name a team in existence. Leaving an arena because you went bankrupt or otherwise ceased operations doesn't really count. How many times have the Sidekicks filed bankruptcy in their existence? I do agree the city doesn't know how to run and utilize this venue, but at least be honest in your gripes. Like... how come all the posters in the windows are from 2009 when it opened and why have there been very few successful events there in the last several years, with some even cancelling because of poor ticket sales. Start again and name some teams that actually left to go to another place, not left to stop operations
DeleteSo the city kicked them out of their own arena and aren't even giving them ice to practice on? Because of a one time video game thing? Thats beyond disrespectful. Americans have been there for almost 20 years! If I were Myles I'd move the team to Comerica full time.
ReplyDelete100%
DeleteI'm not an STM but I buy about 8 games a year. Coming from Frisco, this would make me so happy if they moved to Comerica full time. Nicer venue and more professionally operated
DeleteFrisco Americans??? I don’t know about that…..
ReplyDeleteTexas Americans
DeleteThe Americans
DeleteNorth Texas Americans
Lone Star Americans
TX Americans
Or change the name completely, like:
Frisco Landlockers
Frisco Overbuilders
Frisco No Wayer’s
Frisco Stuck in Trafficers
Frisco Toll Roaders
Frisco Pass’ers
Hope that the Dallas Stars decide to buy the Americans as their ECHL affiliate going forward and rebranding them the North Texas Stars!
DeleteYou haven't been a fan long if you think the Stars would get involved with them
DeleteFrisco is the minor league capital of Texas, why not lose the Americans to Frisco?
ReplyDeleteI’ve lived in Allen 48 years…: the Americans are one of the best things going here.. wake the f up Allen city council.
Preach!! Frisco already has enough, they better not take the Ameircas due to city of Allen incompetence. Who cares about some stupid video game event!
DeleteMyles has already sold the team i hear
ReplyDeleteI heard this too. He sold it to a guy named Ben Dover and his business partner Mike Oxbig.
DeleteFor his sake I hope he has. He has put in his blood sweat and tears to turn this team around and head it in the right direction after being screwed over by Sawyer. It’s a money drain pit for him, I would be sad not to have him as an owner but way happier for him not to have the stress and financial burden.
DeleteI heard the same. I emailed Mydra to confirm or deny. I got no response. This was 2 weeks ago.
DeleteThat told me everything I needed to know.
The team is sold again?
DeleteThis is complete BS. Disgusting that people would come on here and make stuff up. Myles didn't sell the team. Barry should delete absurd false comments like that.
DeleteHe may not have sold yet, but the family is pushing for a sale.
DeleteMaybe it was bought by some of the people on here who know so much about hockey and its operations and have done nothing but whine and moan constantly when they are not that intelligent to begin with
DeleteMyles was apparently selling the team over the past several months. For those non believers, I challenge Mydra or Barry to confirm or deny.
DeleteNone of us want this, but the facts are the facts.
I agree, none of us want this, but if it is so, why are you demanding a confirmation today, and what makes you think you deserve one? IF it is true, it will be released in the next few days, why do you think you are so entitled immediate knowledge of other's business decisions? Will it affect whether or not you attend Saturday night? Your season tickets are already bought for next year, will you ask for a refund if the team is sold? Why can't you check your entitlement and quit demanding immediate answers to things that honestly aren't really your business?
DeleteI dont think that's what they mean, at least I dont read it that way. Someone stated it was complete BS. I think they are saying let the president or Barry confirm or deny.
DeleteBreaking News***The team has been sold to Memphis Dave and Tissue Boy!
DeleteI think that's what they mean... I emailed with whatever my belief was and didn't get a reply so that confirms my belief... Because I am entitled to any and all information the moment it is even discussed behind a closed door. Entitlement and false importance
DeleteLJ?

DeleteBreaking News***The team has been sold to Memphis Dave and Tissue Boy!
I do not have any information in the available search results regarding a team being sold to individuals named Memphis Dave and Tissue Boy. Current reporting on local professional sports and business news in Memphis, such as the latest developments concerning the Memphis Grizzlies or recent Memphis area business activity, does not contain any mention of this specific ownership change.
Please don’t say anything negative about Tommy
ReplyDeleteOkay, Tommy... we won't say anything at all
DeleteOk. Thank you. 😳

Hahaha, you had to get AI to try to explain the joke and still missed it :D
DeleteI believe there is a third business partner in the already completed sale. He's a Japanese investor named Ho-Lee-Fuk
DeleteI didn't have to "get" anything phucktard
DeleteThe Dallas Stars would not allow Allen to Play at Comerica on a regular basis unless Tom G. their owner was considering buying the Americans as their new ECHL affiliate. The Americans are considered competition for butts in seats in this market.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the City of Allen thinking, oh that's it their not thinking.....Who was the marron who booked in a video game convention instead of Americans hockey games? Whoever it was should be fired and run out of town. Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteAt $10-15,000 a day, they took the money and know what the contract with the Americans said, and what the loss was (2 games only).
DeleteExactly. They saw a one time cash grab and basically told the Americans tough sh*t who cares if you are the main tenant. The fact they took away their practice ice too though is bonkers. That's scum level business right there. If I were Myles I'd move the team for that alone. Why does the video game event need the community ice too? Crazy stuff
DeleteI guess no one with the Americans were involved when the City of Allen made that deal! Wake up!
ReplyDeleteThe curse of Joe Ernst lives on......effecting the Americans in every possible way!
ReplyDeleteMyles Jack expected to sell Allen Americans after conclusion of playoff run. More to this story, after the season ends.
ReplyDeleteI guess the City of Allen expects the team to move out of Allen. Why else would they do the Americans dirty like that!
ReplyDeleteI guess if Myles sells the team The Marty party will be over as well.
ReplyDeleteIf he does sell, at least we can say we had one good year
