Allen's McMillin a Catalyst in the Post-Season
I think most of you know what a big fan I have always been of Brian McMillin. A fellow Minnesotan who I have gotten to know over the years. He is a great person in addition to being a great hockey player. He has really come into his own during the playoffs and it is exciting to see him finally getting some recognition. The CHL just posted this article on their web site. When given the chance Brian McMillin has shown he can be an offensive contributor for the Allen Americans and in the post-season, he has been given that chance and has emerged as one of the elite players in the tournament for the Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup.
The Roseau, Minnesota native scored 15 goals and had 15 assists in 54 games during the regular season and he was not always counted on as a top forward for the Americans. But in the post-season, that has changed as shift after shift he is noticeable and is making a difference leading the league with 11 goals scored in the playoffs and 20 points.
In the Opening Round four games to one series win over the Denver Cutthroats, the 6-2, 200-pound forward carried the Allen offense with five of the team’s 18 goals and a pair of assists.
in the Conference Semifinals versus Missouri, a seven-game series win for Allen, McMillin had a goal and four assists in the first six games and in the deciding Game 7 he was a catalyst with a pair of goals.
Now in the Finals, he has been the leader for the Americans scoring goals in Game’s 2, 3 and 4 with his strikes in Game’s 2 and 4 serving as the game winners.
Should the Americans win what equates to a best-of-3 series now, McMillin will have to be the favorite to win the MVP award for the post-season and will have a certain taste of satisfaction when he lifts the Cup.
