Allen Earns Top Spot in First Sher-Wood Coaches Poll

Allen Americans Debut as #1 on the Sher-Wood Coaches Poll

GLENDALE, AZ (November 30, 2012) – The Allen Americans are sitting pretty atop the Central Hockey League with a 12-2-1 record and are three points clear of the closest competitor and today they were unveiled as the top team in the first Sher-Wood Coaches Poll of the season.

The poll will be released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season.  Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn 9 points, etc.

The Americans earned first place votes on all nine ballots they were eligible (teams are unable to vote for themselves), while the Bloomington Blaze garnered the other first place vote.

Wichita, winners of four straight games and currently in second place, finished comfortably in second place (78 points) followed by Bloomington (69 points), Denver (59 points) and Arizona (58 points).  Just three points separate the fourth, fifth and sixth place teams in the poll, Rapid City is in sixth with 56 points.
